A newsletter for the Oconee County Library Friends

President's Message

The Second Annual Oconee County Library Friends Book Sale was a success thanks to your contributions and volunteer support. We brought in more than $12,000 and garnered new members for our Friends group. To express our gratitude, we are having a Thank You Dinner at our Annual Meeting. We’ll gather at The Big Easy at 7 p.m. on November 9th. RSVP Required: Please email or call us by November 1, 2009 if you will attend: Pat Hallow at 706-310-0880 or oconeelibraryfriends@gmail.com.

At our Annual Meeting and Thank You Dinner on November 9th, we will hold elections for new officers and committee chairpersons. We are looking, in particular, for someone interested in taking over this newsletter as its current editor is ending her tenure on the board. Love to write? Volunteer to help out.

We look forward to seeing you at the Annual Meeting, the Oconee County Chamber Fall Festival on October 17th and the Library Friends’ Family Fun Day on October 24th. On December 17th, we’ll be at Barnes & Noble offering gift wrap for a donation, our final fund raiser of this year. If you’d like to volunteer at Family Fun Day or the gift wrapping day, contact me at 706-310-0880

Pat Hallow

36th Annual Oconee Chamber Fall Festival: Saturday, October 17th from 9-4

Join us at the Oconee County Fall Festival, Booth 412 near the OCAF building. It’s where all the kid’s activities and the kids’ inflatable are located. Come by and paint a free mini-pumpkin to take home. Enter a raffle to win either a children’s or adult’s basket of books and book lovers’ items.

Family Fun Day: Saturday, October 24th from 10 to 1

We’ll have ponies, a petting zoo, moonwalk, bubble blowing, and much more fun! We’re thrilled that Todd Herron will present his “Magic & Mystery” Show! The LA group from Oconee County High School will be doing craft projects in the auditorium. Athens Academy will do story telling again! They create an enthralling story time.

Tailgate Tent Needed: We’re looking for a tailgate tent in good condition to use at our Family Fun Day. We’d love to have a 10x10 foot canopy for our event. Please contact Pat Hallow at 706-310-0880 if you can help us out.

Volunteer for Family Fun Day

Join the festivities at Family Fun Day by giving a few hours to help out. We need folks to help children with crafts, to serve refreshments, and to perform other light duties. If you’re interested in helping out for a couple of hours at this popular annual event, call Pat Hallow at 706-310-0880.
